Hello Dr. Biel,
I was wondering if you have managed to find this transcription disk from the 1920s of the Clyde Doerr Saxophone Orchestra Radio Show. It is important historically. It was very stupid of me not to get the title, date and radio station name.
You mentioned a fellow in Holland who might have copied this E-Bay advertisement. I do appreciate your help in this important matter. I am writing a book.
Cordially,
Professor Bryan Kendall

My goodness, pardon all the typos. I was experimenting with Leah's new
tablet and have learned that I cannot type well on it!! Here is what
the message should have looked like.
The discograpy is an expensive (over $600) 4 volume set from Greenwood
Press. I am not near my copy to check the index. I did get to
online samples but we might need the program title. I will ask over at
the 78-L where we have a member in Holland who seemingly downloads every
record image from ebay. He might have it. The regular Old time Radio
collectors rarely are interested in programs this early, and it is
likely that this disc is unique and not in circulation anyway. And
someone over there could check in their copy of Laird. Unfortunately
most of the other syndication companies are not well discographied. For
example, the Columbia books don't include the matrix series that the
broadcast ETs fall in, and all the other syndicators had their own
files.

Mike,
No, unfortunately I did not. I simply did not realize the value of the
Transcription at the time.
Can you tell me about Ross Laird's Brunswick Discography ? I have not
heard of it. Is there any other way to find this Clyde Doerr Saxophone
Orchestra 1920s Radio Transcription? Thank you. bryan

Did you download the photo of the record and/or write the info given in
the auction? Was it a National Radio Advertising Company program? If
so, the info might be in Ross Laird's Brunswick Discography.

Hello on and all,
I am looking for a Radio Transcription recorded on LP or 78 disk. It
was sold on E-Bay 6 months ago. The recording date was of this
approximate date (late 1920s - early 1930s). It was of the Clyde Doerr
Saxophone Orchestra or possibly called the Clyde Doerr Saxophone
Ensemble. He had a radio show. I wish I knew the date of the show and
the name of the show. This band had only 6 - 9 saxophones - soprano
saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone and bass
saxophone.
Clyde Doerr was the most visible saxophonist of the Roaring 1920s and
was one of, if not the first, studio musician. He played on thousands
of recordings in the 1920s.
This Radio Transcription is important historically. I am a scholar
writing a book on this subject. I would be pleased to pay for a copy to
study.
Thank you.
