This story shows the unexpected fallout to potentially 50 million
innocent people because of the Megauploads case. Note that it is two
data storage companies, Carpathia Hosting Inc. and Cogent Communications
Group Inc., that will be the ones discarding the personal and company
files of private users because they have not gotten payments from
Megauploads due to frozen bank accounts.

The company says its millions of users stored their own data, including
family photos and personal documents. They haven't been able to see
their data since the government raids earlier this month, but there has
been hope would be able to get it back."
While it might not be archives which have been using questionable
companies like Megauploads, it shows that some legit data hosting
companies might be quick on the trigger to delete files if a payment
goes astray.
