No offense at all. Toronto is a treasure. And it is nice to see support for
this hell-hole, I mean city, from folks who know it. The good and the bad -
that's what places are made of, and they may be seen more clearly from a
distance than by jaded residents. (Now, if you want a real basket-case,
there's Syracuse, my home town, which works overtime to make itself
irrelevant...oh, you've been there...)
Rochester will roll out its slightly tattered, still rather haughty red
carpet for you. As others have said, there is fabulous opportunity all
around the area, but the city itself can keep you busy. Too bad there isn't
a concert that weekend, as the RPO is a fine band. There is usually some
decent jazz to be heard, probably some fine home-grown blues, and all manner
of garage rock or other pop tones.
If the weather is nice, the Lilac Festival is a delight. Since the Festival
is in our neighborhood, Micky and I consider it our party, which we deign to
share. We hereby decree your invitation.
Regally yours,
Carl (Rochesterian since 1978)

Dear Pekka,
Not the least offence taken. Toronto is a fantastic city and very much worth
the effort. It's a great place to be with lots to do. Since my move away
from New York State to sub-tropical Florida, it (and New York City) is the
place I miss most.
