I agree with your proposal, considering how easy it is today to create and maintain Meetups, user groups in Google, wiki pages, iCalendar, etc.
In addition, we have to extend MARC Community to incorporate SIOC as data feed output, Http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantically-Interlinked_Online_Communities
