I think I addressed this question when it was asked on the RMCR group but for those who may not have seen it, we used the mono master tapes whenever they were available and in reasonable shape. There was considerable variance in CRI's inventory , some tapes had a master and 1 or 2 backups copies, some had only 1 copy and not always the best. Off the top of my head, I don't remember for which titles we may have been forced to use an artificial stereo version but if you have specific ones in mind I'd be happy to check my notes.
As to the extent of the program, we are trying to re-issue everything that CRI did not themselves put out on cd so any title that has even one unavailable work is included. Currently there are approximately 350 titles available as burn-on-demand cd-rs. There about 10-15 more for which we are having to use Lps for all or part of the re-issue* and 2 or 3 for which rights questions may make a re-issue impossible. The complete list of titles is on our web page <www.newworldrecords.org>. Please feel free to contact me if there is any more information you would like.

*In the case of the 357 the side B master is damaged for the first approximately 7 mins. Everything else was fine

Subject: [ARSCLIST] Fwd: [ARSCLIST] CRI LP needed for reissue project
Interesting news about CD reissues of CRI titles! What information can you
share about the extent of the reissue program? Will it include some things
recorded in mono only, and if so in true mono rather than the dreadful
electronic stereo inflicted upon mono-only recordings in some of the CRI CD
reissues of the '80s or '90s? Some of the mono-only titles remain interesting
and valuable musical documents. I own many CRI LPs, although I'm sorry to
say not the one you need. I hope you can get a good copy to use.
Composers recordings Inc. LPs are being reissued and in some cases
the original tapes are missing and so LPs are needed for transfer.
The following LP is sought, in E++ condition.
CRI 357 Music By Christian Wolff
