Speaking for myself, a collector and a former curator, that is always a frustration in dealing with the nature of archives...and yes, I am all too familiar with the copyrights...and the sheer volume of materials one can acquire. If there would ever be an organization more "open" I would feel comfortable donating my own collection.
As a sidelight to the mention of his discovery of the treasure trove of Levant recordings, Michael made copies for me of the lacquers of Levant's own compositions...so thankfully those can circulate...as I like to say..."under the radar."
