Hi, Lou,
Thanks! I really wanted to get it right for the list as it is confusing
and we all take shortcuts. Should I edit it and post it on my blog?
Perhaps it would be useful as a more permanent reference?
The Mac Mini has, I think, the same connector I was referring to for the
Sony that was dual purpose optical digital and metallic analog stereo in
a single 3.5 mm jack.
I never used the last MD for recording, only for recovering audio. I
have two earlier MDs (with the combi inputs) that did not record
uncompressed, but I did a lot of preschool and grade school recordings
on those with an AT822 mic. The Zoom H2 and H1 are so much better
<smile>. I'm tempted to get an H2n just because...
Cheers,
Richard

It was very handy for about two months until the zoom-type recorders came out... Recorded just about an a hour and a half of 16 bit 44.1 audio, or about 50 hours compressed..
