On this topic, Poets House in Battery Park City, NYC:
has a huge library of recorded poetry, poetry readings, poets being interviewed, and recordings of
spoken-word radio programming. Most or all of it is searchable and listenable in digital format at
the library. They also have on-site iPods, so people can listen on headphones as they walk around
the building or browse the book stacks.
I digitized most of their content. It was diverse, wide-ranging and spanned from the 78 era up to
modern times. I certainly heard more recorded poetry than I ever expected to hear in my lifetime
during that project. Poets House is run by nice folks. It's a real treasure trove for all interested
