The Technical Subcommittee for Encoded Archival Description (TS-EAD)
is set to meet next week at Yale University's Beinecke Rare Book and
Manuscript Library for a three-day working meeting. This meeting will
give the committee an opportunity to continue in person the work of
revising EAD that started over a year ago with last winter's comment
TS-EAD and the Schema Development Team have prepared three documents
that will inform the decisions made at the working meeting. All three
of those documents are now available on the SAA Standards Portal. See
The three documents are as follows:
1) EAD Revision-Points of Emphasis.pdf - This document expresses the
four primary points of emphasis that will inform all decisions
regarding changes to EAD.
2) EADRevisionTechnicalConsiderations.pdf - This document summarizes
technical possibilities and limitations of schema design for a revised
version of EAD.
3) EAD_Comments_digest.pdf - This document is a distilled version of
the comments received during the comment period, consolidating
duplicate comments and grouping them into broad categories.
Keeping the EAD community informed as our work proceeds is a priority
for TS-EAD. If these documents bring to mind any questions or
comments about the revision process, please contact me or any other
member of the committee.
