Good question.

ARSC is a non-profit.  For items donated to the silent auction, the usual
rules apply.  

It cannot be self-created.  ARSC would have to use it for its chartered
purpose- education- which is NOT fund raising- or retain it for a three year
holding period, after which that rule no longer applies.  I doubt ARSC would
do that, so the practical answer probably is that, given the way the silent
auction operates,  

it is not tax deductible.

I'm taking the liberty of posting this to the ARSC list.

least. It is a tax question, and I understand that you are not a tax wizard,
but you may have some inkling of an answer.

If someone donates a record to the ARSC silent auction, is the realized
price of the item possibly income tax deductible, assuming the prerequisite
conditions of such are met?
