The last new vinyl record I bought over the web -- a 10" 45 by the
Brooklyn-based Japanese all-girl punk band The Hard Nips on Mixpak Records
-- was black vinyl, as were the couple of high-quality reissues of jazz LPs
I've picked up since. Like Roger, I am an enthusiast of the New Wave/Punk
colored vinyls that came out around 1980, but that's when I came of age,
and I was also a participant in that scene. So I feel -- *choke* --
nostalgia for such artifacts. I wonder if when I'm 80 and in an old folks'
home, thirty or so years from now, if me and my fellow residents will be
sitting around listening to The Buzzcocks.
