The Texas State Archives began contributing records of our archival records to WorldCat in January 2009. Catalog records are prepared by the Archives cataloger (currently myself); final review of the record prior to sending it is done by our head cataloger. Thus far, we have only contributed records as new or revised finding aids are catalogued. We hope to increase our contributions (usually less than 4-5 a month) starting this summer.

Subject: Archival records in WorldCat?
Hello collective wisdom --
I'm wondering how many institutions take the extra step of contributing records for their manuscript collections to WorldCat. If you do or do not, could you tell me why or why not? Has it always been that way or has it changed? If you do, who is responsible for that step (you, cataloging dept, etc.) and how do you ensure that WorldCat records remain up to date?
Thanks
Michele
