Hi Michele,
At LC we pull the controlled access terms from the bibliographic records. The finding aids are then wrapped in METS objects derived from MARC XML as well as the EAD finding aid, and the METS objects help to build our browse lists. We update the finding aid database on a monthly basis; any finding aid that has changed, or any bibliographic record associated with a finding aid that has had any change during the month, results in the finding aid and METS record being refreshed with the new data. This is a huge help for us, considering the frequency with which bibliographic records and authority records are updated. Mike Ferrando at LC authored the process for extracting the controlaccess terms and building the METS objects and can answer questions on the specifics.
Thanks,
Mary

Subject: LC name/subject updates in EAD
Hi all --
Just wondering, for those of you that use LCNAF and LCSH when creating EAD finding aids, how do you ensure that those names remain up to date over time, given that LC updates their name authorities and subject headings on a regular basis?
Michele
