These are odd specs, not to mention confusing.
The DBFS (referring to "0" VU) references are non-standard.
"4dB"
4dB referenced to what? Usually, +4dBu is referenced at -20DBFS for
digital recording. There was a spec by Tascam where +4dBu was
referenced to -16DBFS and it was termed as "Consumer level" by Tascam.
-18DBFS was termed as "professional level" by Tascam. The
"+4dBu=-20DBFS" standard was proposed by Sony for their D and Beta
series professional VTR's and became the adopted standard industry wide.
"+4sBu"
Is that a typo?
What is this RFP for?
