The presentation examines the influence of this Russian-American conductor

centered on Mr. North's 2010 publication* Andre Kostelanetz on Records and
on the Air: A Discography and Radio Log*, including a glimpse at how it
came about, as well as its content, its structure, and some problems that
arose during its creation. The surprising range and variety of
Kostelanetz's achievements in both the popular and classical realms will be
discussed; will be heard through his commercial recordings, V-discs, and
excerpts from radio broadcasts; and will be illustrated by photos,
advertisements, and concert programs, plus record labels and album covers
from his 39-year association with Columbia Records.
(Members of the Kostelanetz family will be in attendance and will answer
questions and supply information on Kostelanetz's life and history.)
