Beware that a DAT tape with sticky shed ruined two of my machines and there
are virtually no parts available at this point. You probably want to get a
disposable machine for testing tapes in addition.

From Julie Swierczek:
I have a small collection of DAT tapes in the archives, and I'm working to
get a used DAT player for the archives. I don't have any 'test' tapes,
though - just the ones I want to preserve. Does anyone have any DAT tapes
with recorded sound that I can have for testing the equipment? I'd like to
get at least two tapes; it doesn't matter what's recorded on them, as long
as there is some sound. (Well, I'd prefer it if it's not a recording of the
sound of sticky shed syndrome!)
