This is slightly similar to the concertina scene where in the 1960/70s one 'enthusiast' 'collected aka bought up just about every old concertina going thereby completely depleting the market and depriving many of being able to purchase their own instrument. The instruments then never saw the light of day let alone were played - the latter a must for such a musical instrument. It seems that hoarders are not only interested in record players. CJB.
