I think butterfly effect derives from meteorologist Edward Lorenz's 1972 paper
"Predictability: Does the Flap of a Butterfly's Wings in Brazil Set
Off a Tornado
in Texas?" It is possible that Lorenz was referencing the 1952 story in his
allusion, but I'm pretty sure that it is his paper that coined the term.
