A while back, there was a post about German pressed Westminster Lps.I mentioned at the time, that I had seen an early mono issue Westminster record, pressed in Australia,by W&G,but did not have it was one of those many early mono classical Lps I passed on because of condition, but a few weeks ago,I found my first Westminster record that was pressed in Holland. This is the Brandenberg 5&6,by Hermann Scherchen. It is part of a series of records, six more being listed on the back of the record cover.
So the seven I know of in the series are all Vienna State Opera Orchestra unless noted
PWS 712 Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet 1812 Overture Dukas Sorcerer's ApprenticeHermann Scherchen
PWS 714 Ravel Bolero Chabrier Espana Enesco (Romanian Rhapsody?) Mussorgsky (A Night on Bald Mountain?) Hermann Scherchen
PWS 717 Wagner Hans Knappertsbusch Munich Philhamonic
PWS 719 William Tell Overture Zampa Overture Auber Fra Diavolo Overture Emil von Reznicek Donna Diana Overture Hermann Scherchen
PWS 733 Brandenber Concerto Nos 5 and 5 Hermann Scherchen
My guess for these is 1964.Like the ABC-Paramounts I have from Holland, these were pressed by Artone.W&G pressed ABC-Paramont in Australia, often on their own label. There was clearly an early connection.long before ABC actually bought Westminster. It would be interesting to see examples of Westminsters from every country.
