Subject: Re: [ARSCLIST] Audio of silent comic Max Linder?
Chuck,
Certainly no radio recording of Max Linder survives, from the USA or
elsewhere. However, Max did work for Gaumont, and in the early 1900s they
made Chronophones which were early sound films.
Some were in direct sound, and others were simply synched to records. I
think Max was such a big star that he could hardly have avoided appearing
in a Chronophone. Research in this area in its infancy,
and none to my knowledge have been found with Max Linder. He made so many
films that it may be difficult even to figure out which ones he made were
done in that format, but it may be out there.
