Yes, because my email client is set up correctly while the other persons
have their email client set up incorrectly.
If I look at one of the emails from Mr Joe Salerno with full headers I see
the following:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20120713
Thunderbird/14.0
This tells me that he is using Windows with Mozilla Thunderbird as his email
client.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed
This tells me that he has correctly configured his email client to send in
plain text only avoiding the html garbage.

Reply-To: [log in to unmask]
Sender: Association for Recorded Sound Discussion List
<[log in to unmask]>
From: "[log in to unmask]" <[log in to unmask]>
This tells me that the Replay-To field in his email client has been
incorrectly filled in with his email adress so all emails coming from this
email client will automatically be resent to him personally and not to the
ARSC list.

Shows how to configure Thunderbird correctly:
Configure the reply-to address that is associated with an identity:
Menu location: ToolsEdit | Account Settings | <account name> | Manage
Identities | <identity> | Settings
REMOVE EVERYTHING WRITTEN IN THE REPLAY TO ADRESS FIELD and no more emails
will be sent to:
Reply-To: [log in to unmask]
But will instead be sent to the actual sender of the email:
Sender: Association for Recorded Sound Discussion List

I do hope this clears up all the confusion, thanks!

Hi Jan,
Perhaps you could be more specific. Are you talking about turntables?
Equalizers? Pre-amps?
Software?
It is a complexsubject.
