Is MARC less common on the other side of the pond? I hope I am not displaying some basic ignorance here, but I don't know of any libraries or library systems in the US that don't use it, given it was invented at LC in the late 60s early 70s and most cataloging here is heavily dependent on LC.

Subject: [BIBFRAME] MARC usage statistics
Hello All!
I'm currently writing a thesis for my MA LIS on MARC and the possibilities/challenges of using linked data to publish/exchange bibliographic information. I would like to know how many libraries use a MARC format and/or how many systems are MARC compatible? If anyone could anyone point me in the direction of some stats it would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Will Earp (MA LIS, University College London)
