The great Wax-y-pedia says that Dynagroove discs should only be
played back with conical styli because Dynagroove was the RCA tracing
simulator, which introduced pre-distortion to overcome the difference
in chisel, I mean, stylus shapes in reproducing the groove.
I agree to use the ears, but, to pre-clude a telephone game of re-
equalization, it would be good to match the pickup to the target.
With vinyl, there are so many compromises it is almost always a bad
idea to upgrade just one component, since there was a handshake
involved with the old and its kin.
