I think we've all seen clocks made out of old 78s; fortunately most of them can have their clock mechanisms removed and be recycled back to being a functioning record - however there are some with numbers glued to the surface so their playing days are over, at least on one side.

>If it is proved that other copies of those 10.000 vinyls can be reached safe and in good conditions somewhere in public institutions in Canada, couldn't we consider the vinyl being recycled? Plenty of artists/arts and crafts designers are using them to create new objects. And also, some organisations are collecting different kind of plastics to be melt together for a new purpose.

>Paper covers can also be recycled as what they are, but need to be kept separately.
>We at the Biblioteca de Catalunya are now seriously considering it, after managing piles and piles of triplicate documents for long, that nobody else wants to keep . (Before buying Spanish discography recordings and videos, see if we have a copy available for you. Institutions and organisations can order free of charge any of them at http://www.bnc.cat/eng/Services/Books-for-entities)
>I did not found a solution for recycling shellacs, though. Any suggestion?
