More on this topic ...
Soundforge 9.0e, which will open FLAC files, apparently can't save high-resolution WAV properly to
FLAC. Batch conversions, WAV to FLAC have not worked, the resulting FLAC is unplayable and full of
digi-noise and problems.
So what I ended up having to do was:
1. in Soundforge, save regions (individual cuts within the high-rez master file) to individual
files, same high-rez WAV format.
2. dbpoweramp is a $40 app with very good batch-processing and conversion features. It works very
well converting WAV to FLAC.
3. I found foobar2000's tag editor to be the easiest to use, but it still requires file-level
editing (to put in the individual song titles and cut numbers). However, it is easier than
attempting this in dbpoweramp, in my experience.
4. you can set up Exact Audio Copy's latest version to rip to FLAC instead of MP3, but this only
works for CD's. I prefer to do CD's in iTunes as Apple Lossless Format.
Has any company come up with an app that can rip high-rez FLAC off DVD-Audio discs? How about off
SACD's? Is there any app that even recognizes SACD's in a standard computer DVD drive?
