I just picked up a copy of VERVE Elite Edition CD 314 557 098-2 CAT HOUSE PIANO which includes
the two Meade Lux Lewis DOWN HOME albums.
The jacket has the DSM artwork from D-6, not for D-7 even though there are plenty of surfaces in
the quadra-fold packaging. There is a b&w low resolution photo of CLEF MGC 632 which they credit
as the original issue of D-7/1007, and a VERVE DOWN HOME SERIES record label (not the original
DOWN HOME label). I also note that a CLEF ep was issued EP 249.
Can someone confirm that the 10" CLEF LP is the first issue, and a date??? or have they got it wrong???
I also found a complete DOWN HOME listing on JAZZDISCO.org. VERVE continued the series above the
original DOWN HOME label releases, through 1030.
Best wishes, Thomas.

"Down Home was a label that was started by Lu Watters' Yerba Buena Jazz Band in December 1949. Catalog numbers 1-6 and 11-14 were
by Watters. In 1950, Norman Granz acquired the label and issued some other jazz artists on it...."

Were there any albums released on the DOWN HOME label above MG D-7 ??
Did the VERVE release of these albums in the Down Home Series continue above the highest DOWN HOME
release ??
Below is a list of the LPs I am aware of. Please post additions/corrections.
If anyone has a list of the 78's, that information would also be appreciated. THANKS!
Best wishes, Thomas.
