  That question has something to do with how the collation first appeared 
on pieces in the series, which info., of course, is not recorded in 
existing authority records and would have to be researched if a change is 
considered (could have been "number", could have been "no.", may have 
varied frequently).

  Maybe that's another reason why LC stopped doing series authority work.
