The ARSC Board and Chairs received this sad news today. (see message from
Yale). I know Richard had many friends (I count myself among those lucky
folks) and spent time with him in Rochester in May.

Dear YUL Colleagues,
It is with great sadness that the Yale University Library marks the passing
of one of its most distinguished curators, Richard Warren Jr.'59. Just
last year, Richard was honored for his long service to Yale (see:

(http://www.library.yale.edu/musiclib/news/2011/02/curator_of_historical_sound_re.html) ). His legacy will live on in the Historical Sound Recordings
collection, which he lovingly nurtured for more than 45 years. As many
are well aware, Richard was one of the world's authorities on the subject of
historical sound recordings, and helped the University build one of the
finest collections of its kind in the world. We were very fortunate to have
his expertise for such an extended period of time. He will most certainly
be missed.
Yours sincerely,
Allen
