How sad. We'd been friends for many years. We took a long walk together
and had dinner in Rochester. We discussed health issues. He was quite
optimistic about his and felt his heart had made a complete recovery. Boy,
will I miss him. My heart goes out to Mary Jo. They were among my
favorite couples.
I believe he was an ARSC founding member.

I'm very sad to hear about the passing of Richard. I first met him from my
days on the AAA committee and we became friends.

The ARSC Board and Chairs received this sad news today. (see message from
Yale). I know Richard had many friends (I count myself among those lucky
folks) and spent time with him in Rochester in May.

Dear YUL Colleagues,
It is with great sadness that the Yale University Library marks the passing
of one of its most distinguished curators, Richard Warren Jr.'59. Just last
year, Richard was honored for his long service to Yale (see:

nd_re.html_
(http://www.library.yale.edu/musiclib/news/2011/02/curator_of_historical_sou
nd_re.html) ). His legacy will live on in the Historical Sound Recordings
collection, which he lovingly nurtured for more than 45 years. As many are
well aware, Richard was one of the world's authorities on the subject of
historical sound recordings, and helped the University build one of the
finest collections of its kind in the world. We were very fortunate to have
his expertise for such an extended period of time. He will most certainly be
missed.
Yours sincerely,
Allen
