Yes, you certainly can, but for those without that preamp (and I know no
other that allows you to do that) doing it in software is usually the
easiest option. It also avoids running through the many stages of a
typical mixer. And the invert-one-channel and mix for minimum signal
trick is, for me, more effective than trying to mix for minimum noise in
a non-inverted situation.
