Hi Raphael:
Yes, definitely many people need our prayers and good wishes. Lots and lots of damage along the
coast. At least two levee breaks in NJ, which is really scary for people because I think many of
them were not specifically told to evacuate before the storm and thus got a very unpleasant and
dangerous surprise when the levee broke and the water came rushing in. Most deaths I've heard about
so far are from trees falling on houses or cars. Very sad story down in North Salem, the town south
over the Westchester-Putnam border. Two boys were killed when a tree fell on their house.

I went driving around before and noted how lucky it was that there wasn't heavy damage on both sides
of this hill, so power stayed on from the un-damaged direction. The other side of the hill has
several big trees down and a couple of power poles snapped. It won't be a huge fix, but the question
is where does it lie in the power company's priorities right now? I noted no trees on houses, which
is a very lucky break for everyone. I think if we got 10mph higher wind gusts, things might have
been much worse. I think our worst were mid-60s mph. TV news said highest recorded gust was 80mph in
Montclair NJ.
Will be interesting to see how quickly lower Manhattan can get back to full power and mass transit.
Salt water got in all the underground stuff last night. Hopefully no priceless archives in
underground vaults down there.

Hello Tom, Hello Alls,
Happy to know that. And to discover the good spirits of Tom and others.
But we must also think on all people casualties of materials damages and injuries.
I apologize this really awful hurricane.
Regards from Biscay. And forgive me for my bad american English.
