I have 5 Ormandy viokin records, acoustic.  To show how much he loved them,
one is signed bt him in black ink on a black label.  I heard from more than
one source that if you brought one to him to sign (later years), he would
break it.

I have 2 Okeh electrics of him conducting the Major Bowes Capitol Theater
Trio (2s) 40963, and a 2sider, 41147, of 2 violin solos with Steffy Golder
av=ccomanying on harp.  She was or beacme Mts. Ormandy.

I've just laid hands on the Judson label (Judson Radio Program Corp),single
sided.  They start inside (were these to synch with film?) of the Hungarian
Dance from Tchaikovsky's "Lake of the Swans"   and Merry Widow selections,
with Eugene Ormandy and his Salon Orchestra.  The third is "Kiss Me Again,
same enseble, which also says, Violin Solo.  I assume it is he playing and
conduction, a la Dajos Bella, etc. No. 543/5 as listed. No. 546 is hi
leading the salon orchestra in the finale of Rossini's Willam Tell Overture
and 552, same star, "Modern Conception of Russian Melodies- arr. Di Filipi,
no. 552. The labels appear to be set by Columbia's print shop.  The records
are black, pre-royal blue.


The record numbers are the only ones that are in the dead wax area.  My
guess is 1931-2, based on not much evidence.
