The AACR2 heading was:
Black, George Fraser, $d 1866-1948
When the name was originally established, the AACR2 cataloger decided that "Black, George F. $q (George Fraser)" was not appropriate. Right or wrong I'm not saying. It was already established under AACR2 as "Black, George Fraser, $d 1866-1948". Following the instructions that encouraged avoiding unnecessary changes our cataloger retained the AACR2 form since it is compatible with RDA. This was a reasonable decision, especially as it was done back in August when there was more of an emphasis on avoiding unnecessary changes.
