Yes, if there were a Whitman cylinder, Haley was not able to show ANYONE
that it EVER existed (per se). He only offered a later 're-recording,' for
aural purposes.
The knowledge of the early people who dealt with him (on the radio end)
referred to it as a "gramophone cylinder." This is the level of expertise
running rampant in those days.
