Yes, as a matter of fact we have been discussing this with the ARSC
board for a couple of years. I initiated the association's audio
recording of the sessions back in 1977, and some earlier audio does
exist in the "ARSCive". I started my personal videotaping in 1985. I
have videotapes of every conference except 1989 Kansas City, and limited
coverage of one of the Chicago and the first Rochester conference due to
the meddling of one board member who also blocked the association from
doing their own official videorecording. (The closest board members of
that time could figure out was that he didn't like being
photographed--so thereafter I avoided pointing a camera in his
direction.) I also have video of about 7 IASA conferences from 1987 to
1999.
I do know that they MUST be digitized -- professionally digitized. ARSC
has an offer but it still requires a lot of prep, and I do not want to
give up the free access of the videos to Leah and me. We have made
copies to presenters who request them, but not to others unless the
presenter agrees. I did show a group of excerpts to IASA in Australia
in 1992, and there are some excerpts in a section in Leah's documentary
-- that section can be seen here: http://fortherecorddvd.blogspot.com/
