Good point on not snuffing out discussion - my thought was that the discussion shouldn't just rehash old, 1980's
arguments. So, yes, let's discuss current A/D - D/A technique along the lines of 24/192 PCM, for instance, or DSD, which, BTW, was originally intended as an archival format. Which brings me back to my last thought and to the comments in the P.S. below.
P.S In an ideal world, we would all have access to 24/192 or higher PCM or DSD-converted commercial product delivered on disc, on a flash drive, or via ftp from a server, plus the ability to preserve our own collections using the same formats. Comments?
