Thanks Wendy - I'm sure others thank you too!

Of course, we would not direct people to just BBQ places (what sort of a
LAC would we be?),
Honestly, a great one! (Okay, I'm not a vegetarian<g>)
BTW, we will be serving Gates at the Local Arrangements Reception,
Thursday, May. 16. Again, for those not keen on BBQ, we will be offering other
types of food!
Hey, when in Rome... Remember Austin.... BBQ... BBQ (okay Mexican for
breakfast) and BBQ (But that's TEXAS BBQ - we're talking KC BBQ (the tomato
based one).
KC is more than just Jazz 'n' BBQ. The Local Arrangement Area Restaurants
on the site, ALSO list a huge selection, and how far a choice is from the
hotel. There is everything for every palette.
Again, maybe I wasn't clear. Can you pick out the ones that are LOCALLY
OWNED and CHEFED. Honestly 50 % or more listed in the Country Club list are
national Chains (Fogo de Chao, Melting Pot, Buca De Peppe, California Pizza
Kitchen). Can you (or others "editorialize:" on the KC only places that
offer something we can't get elsewhere). And another piece of info most ARSCer
always as at a Conference - and I try to find if I'm in the city for Fall
Bd meeting - is: "Where is the best tasting reasonable breakfast near by?".
Hotel NEVER have those. (At least there is a Panera to fall back on.<g>)
And, Steve, I believe you're thinking of Murray's Ice Creams &
Cookies<http://westportkcmo.com/locations/eats/murrays-ice-creams-cookies/> in
Westport<http://westportkcmo.com/locations/eats/murrays-ice-creams-cookies/>
(again, Westport area restaurants are already linked on the site). There are
ice cream and other specialty food places closer on The
Plaza<http://www.countryclubplaza.com/Restaurants/Specialty-Foods> (do I detect a theme
here?).
YEP MURRAY's! I thought we were near Westport. Guess not. Again, the list
is helpful but "opinions from locals" are always the most helpful! ;-)
The Events & Places of
Interest<http://www.arsc-audio.org/conference/poi.html> section on the ARSC site shows a *huge* listing of choices for
occupying yourself with any number of activities. The Local Arrangements
Committee has worked very hard trying to make sure no stone has been left unturned.
I am very proud of them. Please avail yourself of the conference web
site for ALL the wonderful things Kansas City has to offer!
You've got an amazing list and an amazing city. And we have so little time
(except for Rainer who has weeks!) and a good number will not have wheels.
And I've been waiting to come back for years.
How's this for a more focused question: If you have 3 hours to get away
from the Conference - and don't have a car - what sights could you walk to?
(name 4-5). It would be a start to see your town!
Three weeks till my flight!
Steve
