I'll second Shai and Eric - I have an ATR-100 with the varispeed control
from ATR Services. Walking the deck down to 1-7/8 is rock solid. The
machine is a work of art and very easy to work with. The head-block has
the record and erase heads removed and replaced with full-track,
half-track, quarter track and four track heads all in the same block.
You just simply switch between the four heads with a toggle switch. Also
azimuth adjustments for each head are heavy duty, easy access and are
made to be used often. A couple of minutes to switch the head block and
tape guides and your doing 1/2" tapes. I can't recommend the deck more
and the service that comes with it from ATR Services. Purchasing the
deck would have to be justified obviously with the amount of work you're
doing.
