Have you thought of playing the pop song version of tnes lifted from
classical works, with a brief demo beforehand? I think putting it after the
last chords of a major work in a cruel yank backwards.
Running around in my head at the moment is the Shostakovich 7th, a movement
of which becomews "I fall to pieces."
One of the ditzy divas- I think it was Spears- had a song that came out of
the Sibelius 2d.
It might also be interesting to poke through older pop songs-40s, 50s, and
show their transformation into more recent hits. Maybe that's a different
show. Still, any of these ideas sows a relevence linked to an otherwise
dissed past, at least in some quarters. And commercials- ery super bowl
there are at least a few referencing classical works.
I think there was a fairly recent book covering classical music sources of
pop songs but don't recall its title. Perhaps one of the ARSC judges will
remember it.

Carl,
I am delighted that you enjoyed it! This show is a new venture and I really
have some exciting plans for it, I feel.
Trying to keep, good, interesting, non-repetitive classical music
programming on the radio,
