Hi Tom,  The Roxio software takes me back to when I was still working down in Hollywood remastering the Mutual Broadcasting radio series (1947-1965) Family Theater to CDs.  That was the first software that came with a burner and worked fine, I continued to update to the more advanced Roxio versions.  It was when I moved up to Redding, California that I bought the Lite-On DH-20A4P DVD/CD drive which came with bundled Nero software.  It has worked flawlessly since.  That might not be the answer for you, since you'll have to buy it and get used to it, since it works in its own way.  But, as I have said, it has many good features and gives me very good DVDs and CDs with few errors when checked by CDSpeed, Nero's own disk checking software.

I'm still using ancient Roxio Easy CD Creator (circa 2003) and DiscWelder Bronze (circa 2007). I can't say I love either program.

What's best these days for burning CDs and DVD-A in a WinXP environment? I'm particularly keen to replace DiscWelder, which is klunky, slow and crash-prone. Roxio is old but reliable. I use Sony's built-in Red Book authoring program for professional work in the studio (formerly CD Architect, now built into SoundForge).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I note that ARSCListers recommended dBPowerAmp, which I really like for format-conversion and CD ripping.
