While I will admit to having a few unauthorized copies, I have been
trying for the last 25 years to stay reasonably legal. I believe the
original manufactured item is your "proof of licence" and that your
copies are backup copies.
This is just like the software licences that say you may make a backup
copy but also say if you sell your copy you must pass on or destroy all
backup copies.
