Hi Richard,
We've digitized approximately half of the 3,000 cylinders in the Museum's collection using Henri Chamoux's Archeophone. Some audio clips are available on our catalogue (http://catalogue.civilization.ca/). We're primarily interested in these machines for education and presentation purposes only.
All the best,
Jonathan

That is fascinating, Jonathan and Michael!
As to the cylinders in your collection, Jonathan, have they all been digitized/transferred/whatever you plan on doing with them? Is that why you're interested in the value of the machines?
Personally, my belief is if you have the media in your collection, you should also have one or more machines in your collection capable of playing the media (probably with some repair), but that's just me...heck, if everyone believed that, I'd be out of a job.
Cheers,
Richard

Eventually of course magnetic tapes took over the market, but we have cylinders from the 1950's that were used for anthropological field recordings.
