He was my first Electrical Engineering professor at MIT during the school year 1963-64. He was an OUTSTANDING lecturer, and, IMO, the best one I had in my 4 years there. He was always genuinely humble. At the end of his final lecture, we all applauded him. He became embarrassed and ran out of the lecture hall.
His ventures into audio struck me at times as being misguided, although I certainly don't begrudge him his success in that field! I always bring along my Bose noise-canceling headphone whenever I fly. According to the obit in the LA Times, he maintained his humility right to the end of his life. My two semesters with him at MIT had a profound influence on my ways of thinking. I'm forever grateful to him for that!
