"Puzzle" records of this type were also issued in the early days of the phonograph -- circa 1910 and following. HMV ads from the UK from that time sometimes show a big question mark and the question "What will I play?" or words to that effect.

There were several variations on this type of record, for example horse race and
children's stories. I have a few but without knowing the artist I probably could
not find any of them. I think most of these were from the late 1930s and 1940s
