Exactly, plus we are kidding ourselves (and being pedantic) thinking
library patrons can't figure out for themselves the relationship between a
conference body and its proceedings (or a poet and his/her poetry).

THAT is the main issue. If RDA *requires* any such designators at all, it
needs to be simplified. Period. Here is where a line needs to be drawn--
"Just say no" to unnecessary or confusing responsibility designators
(keeping the patrons' intelligence and needs, and the cataloging budget,
in mind).
