Actually I agree with you, Les. I guess the first draft/revision is what is causing me to address the issue in the first place ...

Beth,

Thanks for sharing these footnotes. I searched "uniform title" in Module
14 and looked at the paragraph you cited regarding "added entry" and I see what you are up against!

My first reaction is still a strong preference to make use of RDA terminology in place of the terms such as added entry and uniform title throughout the revised CCM. I think that your example of "additional authorized access point" in place of added entry would work. I think in other places authorized access point for the work (130) (or similar wording for expression) might work. And I think referring to a preferred title in the 240 would work.

But I see it is not going to be easy. What do others think? --Les

The first footnote below applies to a statement in CCM 14.1.3.c which still begins : "Links do not provide added entries."

Nevertheless, MARC 21 Bibliographic fields 70X-75X are defined as added entry fields that provide additional access to a bibliographic record from names and/or titles having various relationships to a work. RDA 17.4.2 permits the recording of primary relationships by using one or more applicable techniques, allowing the cataloger to accommodate the needs of systems designed under earlier cataloging conventions. RDA 0.2 states: "A key factor in the design of RDA has been the need to integrate data produced using RDA into existing databases developed using AACR and related standards."

Nevertheless, MARC 21 Bibliographic fields 240/130 are defined as uniform title fields for use when additions to the title proper must be accommodated. MARC 21 Bibliographic fields 240/130 accommodate RDA 6.27.1.9, Additions to Access Points Representing Works. RDA 0.2 states: "A key factor in the design of RDA has been the need to integrate data produced using RDA into existing databases developed using AACR and related standards."
