Hmmm. 30 IPS does not sound better than 15IPS for certain music. 78s never sounded nearly as good as 33.1/3 Lps to me. And the only 12" 45RPM album set I bought (when I was 14) was pressed off center so had lots of wow. But then, I'm only 63 so not in the demographic you mention.
Few things are equal.
