To some extent we are like everyone else, we cannot develop services until the new environment is defined. Having said that, we also know from experience that there will still be a lot of work to do for libraries that have not pushed forward to a web environment. We still have customers that need cards produced! A significant aspect of data services is conversion from one format to another; this can be conversion from cards to electronic format, conversion from Excel, Word or XML to MARC, or conversion from MARC-8 to UTF8, etc. For a long time there will be work to upgrade or migrate data to the new environment. There certainly will be a place for continuing to help manage data to keep it and its links current.

Sounds good! I've been wondering for a while now. How do you see yourselves/your services adapting?

Authorities vendors do not put up any sort of resistance to change [it would be futile to resist change]--unless it is potentially harmful to library data. Most of us participate on the various committees and working groups that are seeking to bring these changes so we are facilitating change not resisting it. We are very aware new services will be needed in the future and as we have done for the past 30 plus years we expand our services to meet the changes in technology.
