Rainer,
What are BEAR FAMILY's plans for the material in the big set in terms of releasing more affordable
subsets - for example ROLAND HAYES, and similar concert artists would be of great interest to me. Preiser
issued the Vanguard and A440/Heritage LP's in a 2-CD set a while ago. The HAYES material in the
Bear Family set is hard to obtain and should be made available. Perhaps even release the complete Cylinders
(Available on Archeophone) Columbia Custom, Vocalion and regular Columbia 78's in a well annotated set.
Much as I would have liked to have the full set, it really is a lot of money. If Bear Family had offered
it on a subscription basis (i.e. pay for it over a year with monthly payments), I think I would have managed
to buy it, but E500 in one gulp is overwhelming!
Perhaps in a while they might make the recordings available as downloads for either a small price or free (pro bono).
Best wishes, Thomas.

Subject: [ARSCLIST] BLACK EUROPE 3-CD digipack.
I learn from Steve's comments that the inevitable happened: some
criminal mind ripped the digipack and offers it via Amazon at 18$ just a
couple of days after it was released in Germany.
That is why I keep suggesting to producers: Stop publishing CDs with a
booklet attached. Instead: publish books with free CDs attached. That
makes life for pirates just a little bit more difficult, as books are
not that easy to copy and to market as bootlegs.
The big BLACK EUROPE box comes with two coffee table type books, and
THAT is what you really buy. They are just beautiful.
