In the XML Schema for MODS 3.5 at
http://www.loc.gov/standards/mods/v3/mods-3-5.xsd the element dateIssued has type
dateDefinition which in turn is defined as carrying an optional @encoding attribute whose value
may be edtf with which seasons may be encoded according to
http://www.loc.gov/standards/datetime/pre-submission.html#season
